Prerequisite
- High school or higher education level
- At least 18 years of age
- Read and write English

Step 1
Pass the International Certification Examination for Alcohol & Other Drug Use Counselors - Peer Recovery written exam
- Pass exam

Step 2
Complete 500 hours of paid or volunteer work experience
- Complete at least 500 hours

Step 3
Become employed as a Youth Peer Support Specialist
- Become employed

Step 4
Complete requirements within the set timeframe
- Complete the following
Within 30 days of employment

Cultural Linguistic Competence online module
Family Driven and Youth-Guided Practice online module
System of Care in Children's BH online module
Stress, Trauma, and the Brain online module
NHCBHC Core Competencies online module
Strategic Sharing pre-recorded webinar from Pathways RTC
or
Face to face training on site at hiring organization Strategic Sharing Online Resource Every 30 days and bi-weekly thereafter These activities will be coordinated by the worksite Receives & tracks at least 2 hours / month of coaching from a trained Youth Peer Support Specialist Coach Regularly attends & tracks monthly group coaching with trained Youth Peer Support Specialist coach and other Youth Peer Support Specialist staff Within 90 days Activities will be coordinated by the worksite Minimum of 15 hours observing youth peer supporter specialists with lived experience as they work with youth or young adults Within 6 months Completed 6 hr Initial Training on Addictions & Recovery and 3.5 hr Families and Addiction training (NH DHHS)
